Community Manager (San Francisco)

We're hiring our first Community Manager in the US!

San Francisco Office

Hey! We're team Granola πŸ‘‹

If you haven't already, you should check out what we're building, and why you should work here.

You'll be among our first hires in San Francisco. Your job is to build the community engine that makes Granola the default tool for every startup in the Bay. That means creating events people talk about, building relationships with the accelerators and VCs that shape the ecosystem, and making sure our power users feel heard and know they're part of something special - through our product online and how we make them feel in the real world.

The Opportunity

We're hiring our first Community Manager in the US. You'll be among our first hires in San Francisco, reporting directly to Shre, our Head of Business, who built Granola's community presence in London from scratch.

What You'll Do

Events

  • Make Granola's SF office synonymous with the forefront of tech in the city

  • Partner with the best companies and founders to host incredible events

  • Own events end-to-end: concept, partnerships, logistics, promotion, and follow-up. (How we know we're doing it well!)

Startup Ecosystem

  • Build and maintain deep par tnerships with the top accelerators and VCs in the Bay (i.e. YC, Neo, HF0, SPC)

  • Be viscerally present when new cohorts land. Your goal is to make Granola the first tool founders reach for on day one

Community engine

  • Act as the bridge between our Bay Area community and our product team - surfacing what users love, what frustrates them, and what they wish existed

  • Your job is to build and accelerate the community flywheel: events create relationships, relationships drive adoption, adoption creates advocates, and you keep the whole thing spinning

What Success Looks Like

We'll define success metrics together, but a working goal for your first 6 months could be:

  • Granola adopted by a meaningful percentage of new YC, Neo, and HF0 cohorts, plus newly incorporated startups sourced through your VC and accelerator partnerships

  • 15+ high-caliber events that establish Granola's SF presence and consistently attract top founders and operators

Where This Role Goes

This role has a clear path to leading Granola's US community function as we scale. As you prove out the playbook, there's opportunity to:

  • Curate executive dinners and intimate founder gatherings

  • Own and grow our online community, alongside our CX team

  • Build out our power user program - how we delight the people who love Granola most

  • Shape Granola's community strategy globally, not just in SF

What We're Looking For

Your background:

  • 3-5 years in community management, venture capital, partnerships, or startup ecosystems

  • Proven experience running events for a tech audience

  • Comfortable communicating with executives and founders

  • US-based and able to work from San Francisco 5 days a week (no visa sponsorship available)

As a person, you…

  • Embody the core Granola traits - hardworking, kind, and incredibly ambitious

  • Are genuinely obsessed with the tech ecosystem - you're always reading, listening, and learning about the best and fastest-growing startups, founders, and operators

  • Roll up your sleeves and get things done; you're as comfortable emailing a unicorn founder as you are carrying pizza boxes to make sure your event attendees are well fed. No task is beneath you

  • Are high-agency - people have told you it's one of your strengths

  • Sweat the details because you know that's what makes events and partnerships stand out in a sea of generic experiences

  • Are creative, interested and constantly thinking about what could be a big hit for your community

  • You get energy from meeting people, you know how to handle a crowd, and when needed, you can be politely firm when saying no

  • Build AI workflows to automate the small stuff and scale your impact beyond just one person

Compensation

Base salary: $115,000–$150,000, depending on experience. (Plus equity and benefits as well!)

We are living in the most exciting time for tool builders since Engelbart's demo in 1968 and we want to assemble the best crew to build this future together.

Our compensation philosophy is to hire the best people in the market and pay them accordingly with salary, variable, and equity.

Lastly, we think amazing talent comes from all kinds of life journeys and experiences. If what is written above speaks to you, whether you look like a fit on paper or not, please reach out.
